1991 BMW Alpina (E31) B12 5.0
KEY FACTS
This E31-generation BMW Alpina B12 5.0 is a remarkably rare modern classic grand tourer.
Under the bonnet sits an Alpina-enhanced 5.0-litre naturally aspirated V12, delivering around 355PS to the rear wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission.
The odometer shows 234,331 km, however this is not warranted.
EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES
The Alpina B12 5.0 was based on the E31-era BMW 850i and featured higher compression Mahle pistons, larger intake valves, modified cylinder heads, a new exhaust system, and a modified Bosch Motronic ECU. As a result, the power output increased to 350bhp (355PS) and the red-line increased to 6,400rpm.
Further Alpina enhancements include a modified four-speed automatic transmission, shorter and stiffer suspension with Bilstein shock absorbers, a new front spoiler, a rear spoiler, Alpina alloy wheels, Alpina interior upholstery, an Alpina-branded steering wheel trimmed in black leather with green and blue stitching, and blue Alpina instrument dials.
This example is finished in a stylish shade of black with contrasting gold Alpina ‘deco set’ graphics, over a black Nappa leather-trimmed interior, featuring green and blue ‘cut-out’ seat accents, Alpina-patterned floor mats, and green and blue gear gaiter stitching.
It rides on a set of 18-inch Alpina multi-spoke alloy wheels fitted with Michelin Pilot Super Sport tyres.
Equipment includes pop-up headlights, a top-tinted windscreen, an electric sunroof, dual-zone automatic air conditioning, an electric rear window blind, a BMW Business cassette stereo, an on-board computer, Anti Slip Control, electrically adjustable damper settings, cassette storage, cruise control, and electrically adjustable heated front seats with three-position driver memory.
This example has been fitted with a Clifford alarm system and a replacement Alpina-branded Momo steering wheel with no airbag, though the original steering wheel with an airbag is included in the sale.
