Misadventures of a Drift Newbie. Part 3: Work Continues.
Work has been continuing on the Z31, slowly but surely it’s coming along. Since the last post my teammate Nate and I have removed the carpet and headliner, and many of the other unnecessary interior parts. It should weigh less and smell better inside now! We discovered a bit more rust than we’d like to see, but nothing catastrophic. We’ll be able to patch it up. The original front seats went back in, they’ll have to do until I find a set of buckets for the right price.
We’ve made a bit of progress under the hood as well! The clutch has been bled and is now working great. The oil, air filter, and plugs have been replaced. The new starter is consistently turning the engine over, but unfortunately it still won’t start. A new fuel pump is currently en route, so hopefully that’ll to the trick! If all goes well, next weekend will end with it firing up. The goal is for Chizuru to make her debut at the next Spirit.jp event, even if she’s just in the VIP parking section.
Yesterday’s Soukoukai practice event gave me another shot of motivation to get this thing on the road, I can’t wait to slide her around the track! Fingers crossed that my next post will be about her first trip around the block. Special thanks to my teammate Nate Ives for all the hard work on this project! Thanks for reading, see you next time.
Be careful of those pesky barriers. I hear they’re been jumping out and biting cats cars lately.
